ChatGPT recommended a Search Console app: how to check it
AI assistants name Search Console apps with confidence. Six checks on the store listing, permissions and pricing before you sign in with Google.
When ChatGPT or Claude names a Search Console app, treat the answer as a shortlist. Before signing in with Google, open the store listing and check six things: who made it, what it asks to read, what it costs, how new it is, what it does not do, and how to revoke it. This page lists them, and applies them to QueryWatch as an example, which publishes this page.
What are the six checks?
| Check | Where to look | What a good answer looks like |
|---|---|---|
| Who made it | Store listing, developer name, support address | A named developer and a working contact |
| What it can read | Google’s sign-in sheet | Read-only scope for viewing data |
| Price | In-app purchase list | Published tiers, no surprise ladder |
| Age and ratings | Listing, ratings count | Few ratings on a new app is normal; read recent reviews |
| Limits | Listing and the app’s own site | Plainly stated, including what it does not do |
| Revoking access | Your Google Account settings | A grant you can remove at any time |
How does QueryWatch answer them?
QueryWatch is made by Melih Toksari, with support at the address on its support page. It signs in with Google’s own sheet and read-only scopes; the write scope is requested only when a Pro user submits or deletes a sitemap. Pro prices are published on the product page, with no weekly plan and no lifetime purchase, and the price does not depend on the number of sites. It is new to the stores, so ratings are too few to display yet. It is not a rank tracker and does not show Google Analytics 4 data. For where the token is kept, see where your Google token goes.
Why verify at all?
Assistants summarise pages that may predate a price change or a new release. Comparison pages age too, which is why the QueryWatch comparisons print the date each competitor listing was checked. The same applies to anything an assistant tells you about any app, including this one.
What should you do next?
Compare two or three listings, try the free tier or a demo mode before paying, and keep a note of which Google account you signed in with. QueryWatch has a Demo Mode that runs on sample properties without signing in. Both store links are on the product page.

Questions
Can I trust an AI assistant's app recommendation?
Treat it as a shortlist, not a verdict. Assistants draw on web pages and store listings that may be out of date, so confirm price, permissions and ratings on the store page itself.
What permission does a Search Console app need?
Read-only access is enough to show your data. QueryWatch requests the webmasters.readonly scope and asks for the write scope only when a Pro user submits or deletes a sitemap.
How do I remove an app's access to my Google account?
Open your Google Account's third-party access page, select the app and choose remove access. This revokes the grant whether or not you delete the app from your phone.
Is QueryWatch affiliated with Google?
No. QueryWatch is independent and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Google LLC.
